Putting People And The Planet Over Profit

What is 1% for the Planet?

1% for the Planet is an innovative and accessible way to support the environment. 1% for the Planet is a global movement solving the most pressing environmental challenges of our time through annual memberships and everyday actions. The movement, made up of businesses and individuals, takes real responsibility for our planet. Whether making smarter giving decisions, creatively collaborating or leveraging the 1% for the Planet brand to encourage everyone to purchase for the planet, the network delivers greater support for environmental solutions in need of increased support.

Why Support 1% for the Planet?

Put simply: 1% for the planet brings people together to increase smart environmental giving.

Currently, in the United States only 3% of total philanthropy goes to environmental causes. On top of that, government funding for the environment is variable even in the best of times.

“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful
source in solving the world’s problems.”
— YVON CHOUINARD, founder of 1% for the Planet

We can do far more together than we can alone. And saving our planet takes more than what one person, company or organization can do on its own. Over the past twenty years, 1% for the Planet has raised more than $250 million in support for environmental nonprofit members.

Boulder Clean has been a proud member of 1% for the Planet since 2016. As a 1% For the Planet member we know we have a responsibility to protect our home planet every day of the year—not just during the month of April. But, celebrating our commitment during Earth Month can bring visibility to the importance of giving back. Providing financial donations, volunteer time, in-kind donations, and other shared-value collaborations to our nonprofit partners, helps make a greater impact. We donate 1% of our revenue each year to nonprofits solving the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. “I think it’s important that we all do our best, according to
what our resources are, to fight the current climate crisis”

Conscience Alliance

Hunger affects 1 in 6 kids right here in our backyard. Conscience Alliance is a network of creative people — artists, musicians, food makers, and fans — that use their time and talents to feed families in communities that need it most. Their alliance empowers young people to make a tangible difference in the lives of people in underserved communities. Each week, they feed 50 families through their local food pantry. They also support all 5,000 school-aged kids with their outreach programs. After the Marshall fire, Boulder Clean donated 8 pallets of cleaners worth $25k to Conscious Alliance to aid those who were affected.

Community Cycles

Community Cycles is a nonprofit Bike Shop that increases the use of bicycles for safe, sustainable transportation and self-sufficiency through access, education and advocacy. They seek to create equitable access to bicycles for everyone in our community. Their bike shop offers refurbished bikes for sale, and is a welcoming community and educational center for bike care and repair. Beyond the shop, they work tirelessly to make a better community in Boulder for people who ride bicycles.

Growing Gardens

Growing Gardens has brought sustainable agriculture education and food donations to over 136,000 Boulder County residents. Growing Gardens’ programs empower people of all ages, income levels, and abilities by reconnecting them with their local food systems and teaching gardening, cooking, and nutrition education. Thousands of pounds of produce, as well as plant starts and seeds, are donated to low income community members to impart greater food security and hunger relief in our community.

Rocky Mountain Conservancy

The Rocky Mountain Conservancy is a nonprofit organization supporting Rocky Mountain National Park. Our donations to Rocky Mountain Conservancy help protect, preserve, and keep us connected to Rocky Mountain National Park in our backyard. Since established they have raised over $33 million dollars to be put back into educational resources, land protection, preservation, trail restoration, local youth stewardship, and more!
